Aboriginal academics are up in arms over the use of the word "savage" by some high profile Canadians.
Vancouver Olympic Committee member Dick Pound is being asked to resign after he said Canada was 'populated by savages', 400 years ago.
This was followed by an op-ed piece in the Globe and Mail where Margaret Wente attempted to defend Pound's comments.
In response, the Aboriginal activists have launched a co-ordinated online, phone and letter writing campaign to protest.
